Setup & Google Play
What do I need in Play Console before listing?+
Add
testershubs@googlegroups.com as a tester group on your closed testing track, and make sure your track has an active release published. Without the Google Group added, our testers physically can't opt in to your app.Why do testers need to join a Google Group?+
Google Play uses Google Groups to identify approved testers for closed testing tracks. Both sides need to use the same group: testers join it once, developers add it to their Play Console testers list. This is Google's mechanism, not ours — we just coordinate it.
Does Google penalize using a marketplace like this?+
No. Testers opt in through Google's official Play Console mechanism — the same flow you'd use for friends and family. We never spoof, simulate, or script device activity. Your testing track sees real Google accounts on real devices.
Do testers need to install the app?+
No. Testers just need to stay opted into your Play Console testing track for 14 days. Installing is optional — Google only requires the opt-in for the day count.
Money & payouts
How fast will I get testers?+
It depends on how many testers are active on the platform when you post. We're growing the tester base now — the earlier you post, the further up the queue you sit. Listings that don't fill within 7 days are eligible for refund or featured placement.
What's the refund policy if I don't get testers?+
Listings cancelled before they fill are fully refunded automatically. Partial fills get pro-rata refunds when you cancel. We never charge for testers you didn't get.
How do testers actually get paid?+
Testers connect Stripe (free, ~2 minutes). After 14 days on a test, earnings land in their TestersHub balance automatically. They can withdraw to their bank anytime above £1.
Disputes & safety
What if a tester drops out before 14 days?+
File a dispute within 7 days of the testing period ending. We freeze affected funds, investigate, and either replace the tester for free or refund their share. Funds aren't released to dropouts.
What stops fake testers from gaming the system?+
Three layers: (1) every tester is Stripe identity-verified before earning, (2) they must remain opted in through Google's actual servers for the full 14 days — we don't take their word for it, (3) developers can warn or dispute any tester whose engagement looks off, and we can freeze payouts.
Can I see who the testers are?+
You see anonymized tester IDs and join times in your dashboard. Their Google account email is shared with Play Console (Google's standard flow), but TestersHub doesn't expose personal info beyond what Google already requires.
Can I be a developer and a tester?+
Yes — one account works for both. Many of our users are indie devs who happily test other people's apps in their downtime. Switch between developer and tester views anytime from the dashboard.
